The Uropyghast was a species of creatures, that were native to the Necrontyr's Homeworld.[1]

Description

They were large flat-bodied invertebrates, which had thickets of ivory bristles protruding between the plates of their segmented shells. Due to their popularity with commoners as fighting beasts, the Uropyghast were among the few native species to spread throughout the Necrontyr's empire. However the species was likely driven to extinction, after the Necrontyr became the Necron and then purged all biological life from their Tomb Worlds. It has been noted by the Necron themselves, though, that this was not a perfect process. Sometime after the Ithakas Dynasty awoke from the Great Sleep, it was discovered that a species related to the Uropyghast, survived on their Crownworld Antikef. These invertebrates, however, were much smaller then the Uropyghast and were only the length of a Necron's arm.[1] Larger variants of uropyghasts also survived, and were occasionally used in gladiatorial games.[1a]
