Vendraal
Vendraal was an Imperial Fists Captain, who took part in the Great Crusade and Horus Heresy.[1]
History
As the Heresy raged, Vendraal was among the Imperial Fists who defended the Sol System and he had command of the Cruiser Spear of Verria. However, he would be on deep void patrol duties, when the Alpha Legion later attacked the System, in the Battle of Pluto. By the time Vendraal returned to Pluto, the Imperium's fleets in the region had been scattered by the Alpha Legion's warships and the Traitors had seized Pluto's fortified moon, Hydra. Made stern and seasoned in hundreds of conflicts from the earliest days of the Great Crusade, Vendraal came to a fateful decision after learning this. Despite Hydra now being defended by an Alpha Legion fleet, the Captain ordered his forces to prepare to board the moon and had the Spear rush the fleet. As it began to be torn apart, Vendraal's forces were launched towards Hydra while he remained on the Cruiser with a skeleton crew. The Captain used the Spear to shield his forces, which successfully reached the moon under the command of the Centurion Gregorius Skekkir. The venerable Cruiser then fought on for another 22 minutes, before ending its fight by ramming the Alpha Legion Heavy Cruiser Cockatrice.[1]
