Void Glass
The Void Glass is the most sacred relic of the Carcharodons Chapter.[2]
Said to have been given the by Void Father to the Forgotten One in ages past, the Void Glass is a psychic mirror of unclear origin that can reflect the psyche of the user, though the Chapter is unaware of its true nature.[1a] It was lost by the Chapter 1,400 before the present setting.[1b] The Void Glass was held on the Last Planet, where the Chapter kept some of their relics. The planet's reliquaries were ransacked by a Rogue Trader Zhu Lanshang and his crew, in search of the Void Glass, which they eventually found. Despite Chaplain Tangata Manu’s efforts to protect the Void Glass, the artifact was taken by the surviving crew members of Lanshang’s retinue, after he was killed by Tangata.[2] Since then Tangata Manu led a hunt to recover the lost relic.[1b]
Eventually, Tangata alongside Chief Librarian Te Kahurangi and their hunter squad are able to track the device to Commorragh in the possession of the Kabal of the Pierced Rose. The group is captured and forced into a Wych Cult arena, but Jona, the mysterious son of the Chapter Serf Iraia with a link to the device, is able to activate it. The result is mass panic in the arena, and in the aftermath the Imperials are able to escape.[1a] Afterwards, Te and Tangata both agree the Void Glass is too dangerous and feign that they failed to acquire it to the Chapter Council. The two then fake Tangata's execution, but in truth the former Chaplain now dwells with the Void Glass on Sargaraya alongside Iraia and Jona.[1c]
