Void Kraken
“Twas twice the size of the biggest asteroid I ever did see, all stone and teeth and tentacles like some nightmare staring us right in the face. The cap’t, he said it was just a moon at first and to think no more on it, but I’s knew better. I told him I did, I says to him that there is no moon...”
Void Kraken are titanic Void Beasts able to prey on the largest of voidfaring naval vessels. Dismissed as legend and myth told by drunken voidfarers, these void beasts are rumoured to roam the Koronus Expanse and beyond.[1]

Overview
Few, if any, claim to have actually seen a Void Kraken, but many a veteran voidfarer will affirm they do indeed exist. Some will point to a variety of shipwrecks as proof of their handiwork.[2]
Some wrecked ships are found with teeth upwards of a meter long embedded in their hulls. These are believed to be Kraken teeth. The preadolescent material is often crafted into elegant short swords and daggers. Some veteran voidfarers inscribe intracit depicting of Krakens on these Kraken Tooth Daggers in the hopes that it will appease their beast-spirits and keep them safely away.[2]
Physiology
Little is known about the physiology and behavior of these mysterious creatures. This is due to their rarity, difficulty to hunt and detect. It is unknown whether their various sightings are all one species are a set of several different breeds. Their defining features being stony exteriors, utterly massive size, and bearing many tentacles that can reach several kilometers in length. Some Void Kraken are noted as being approximately 1.8 km long or 2.8 km with tentacles extended, 500m abeam, and weighing 7 megatons.[1]
Most who know of these creatures' existence do generally agree on a few key aspects. Some adepts believe they're silicon-based lifeforms with no blood, true bone, or fluid needed to live. They are asexual animals that reproduce by dividing, similar to amoebas or other single-celled organisms. Their stony exteriors are made up of minerals they consume, thus explaining their interest in ship hulls.[1]
These vessels are a tempting concentration of nutrients. They often lurk among asteroids or near planets, waiting in ambush. These ponderous creatures might not consume a voidship entirely when caught and sometimes drag the wreck with them between systems to be consumed later.[1] Some say they travel from system to system, slowly at sub-light speeds, and might live for millennia.[2]
