Voltis City was the capital city of the planet Voltemand.[1][2]

History

When the planet was occupied by Chaos forces in the Sabbat Worlds Crusade, Voltis City formed the central stronghold for the Renegade Demagogue Chanthar. Although General Noches Sturm of the 50th Volpone failed to take the city, it ultimately fell when units of the Tanith First and Only were able to infiltrate the city. Chanthar himself was killed when Voltis City was captured.[1][2]

Despite the success of the campaign, General Sturm was outraged that the Tanith "Ghosts" had succeeded where his Volpone had failed. As revenge against the regiment (in particular their commanding officer, Colonel-Commissar Ibram Gaunt), he assigned them to lead an expedition to secure Voltemand's second city, Kosdorf, a mission which was believed to be a waste of time and resources that could have been assigned to Voltemand's PDF.[1]

Geography

Voltis was situated at the head of the Bokore Valley. Not only was the city itself heavily fortified, sporting 30m-thick walls of basalt, but the network of hills on the city's west site prevented any approach from that direction.[2]
