Necron forces on the attack.

The War for Amontep II is an ongoing conflict on Amontep II in M42, between the Adeptus Mechanicus, Daemons and the Necron Dynasties of Sautekh and Szarekhan.[1]

Overview

Though the world had long been mined by the Adeptus Mechanicus, it was the actions of Magos Dominus Dentrex Ologostion that ushered in the conflict. Near to the Vrackian Megacomplex, Dentrex began excavations of Noctilith menhirs clustered around what he designated as a capstone structure. The Magos' attention stirred the Sautekh Dynasty defenders of Amontep II's buried Necron Tomb to life. However the Necrons were unable to quickly defeat the Skitarii and Knights that Dentrex employed as bodyguards and before he could be prevented, the Magos extracted a vital shard of the Noctilith capstone - albeit unknowingly. In doing so, Amontep II's contra-empyric shielding against the Warp, that the world had so long enjoyed, was ended. This allowed Warp Rifts to materialize and soon hordes of Daemons began to rampage across Amontep II. Now a rapidly escalating three-way conflict as the Adeptus Mechanicus, the Necron of the Sautekh Dynasty and Daemons, vie for dominance of the valuable world. During the ealy stages of the war, the Arkus Maximal Forge Temple proved vital to the Adeptus Mechanicus' forces, as it churned out maniples of deadly war engines. This resistance ended suddenly with the ominous descent of vast, dark vessels from the outer void. The Szarekhan Dynasty has now used a Dolmen Gate, in the Silicane Sandsea, to claim Amontep II for itself. So far, though, the Dynasty has concentrated on defending their beachhead against the Adeptus Mechanicus' probing offensives and show no inclination to march to the aid of the Sautekh Dynasty forces already on the world.[1]
