Worshippers of the Purified Dead
The Worshippers of the Purified Dead is an Imperial Cannibal Cult, that is active on the Hive World Avarax.[1]
History
It was one of several Cannibal Cults that were formed in M42, during the food shortage Avarax suffered, after it was invaded by Hive Fleet Leviathan and the Thousand Sons Traitor Legion. They believe Human flesh is purified after the body dies and the Cult consumes it to survive and as an act of worship towards the Emperor. However while the Worshippers eat the dead, they will also kill other Imperials in order to survive as well. Though given that Avarax is being invaded by Leviathan and the Thousand Sons, there is a chance the Cult is tied to them in some way. This could mean that the Worshippers are being used to awaken Daemons or that they may even be a Genestealer Cult.[1]
