Xhamaddon
Xhamaddon was a Lieutenant of the Sons of Horus Legion, during the Horus Heresy.[1a]
History
He took part in the Heresy's Siege of Terra, but like all of the Traitors Xhamaddon fled the world, after Warmaster Horus was killed and the Imperium emerged victorious. However the Lieutenant was unable to escape with the Sons of Horus and was instead among the few non-Word Bearers Chaos Legionaries, who forcibly entered the Dark Apostle Adraharsis' departing lander on Terra, before its doors closed. The lander then entered a Word Bearers Corvette, but it was damaged as it fled from the Imperium's forces and this prevented it from escaping from the Sol System. This resulted in Adraharsis only powering on and moving the Corvette, when the warship was out of sight of the wrathful Imperials.[1b]
During that time though, the Dark Apostle came to suspect that the arrogant Xhamaddon, wanted to take command of his Chaos Legionaries. This was proven somewhat true, when shortly after they rescued the Iron Warriors led by the Warsmith Ortag Theokon,[1b] the Lieutenant made a move to overthrow the Dark Apostle. Xhamaddon attempted to sway Theokon to get rid of Adraharsis, who the Lieutenant claimed was untrustworthy and would get them killed before they escaped the Sol System. He then claimed, that their group would have a better chance of survival, if the Warsmith was their leader. However Xhamaddon was quickly rebuffed by Theokon, who was not interested in listening to any of the Sons of Horus, after both they and their Primarch, Horus, failed to overthrow the Imperium. The Warsmith then claimed it would be in the Lieutenant's best interest not to draw attention to himself, as it was likely the surviving Traitors felt the same and would soon begin turning upon the Sons of Horus.[1c]
With the Lieutenant's offer rejected, Xhamaddon could do nothing as Adraharsis stated they would be going to the Neptune moon, Laomedeia. The Dark Apostle believed it would still be held by the Traitors[1c] and he was proven correct, when they landed and discovered Laomedeia was controlled by the Word Bearers. The Traitor Legion's forces were commanded by the Dark Apostle Khal-Hanam, who stated it was a safe haven for any surviving Traitors. Ultimately though, Khal-Hanam was waiting until they had gathered enough Traitors to capture an Ultramarines Battleship, which they would use to escape from the Imperium. While Theokon thought this was foolhardy and wanted no part of it,[1d] Xhamaddon saw the Word Bearers' superior numbers and secretly decided to join with them. Thus, when the Warsmith attempted to use a comms tower to contact[1e] any Iron Warriors near the moon,[1f] after discovering the Word Bearers were killing Traitors who attempted to escape Laomedeia, it was the Lieutenant who stopped Theokon. With squadrons of Word Bearers at his command, Xhamaddon killed half of the Warsmith's Iron Warriors, before he was able to convince Theokon to surrender.[1e]
The surviving Iron Warriors were then taken into custody,[1e] but unbeknownst to anyone, the Warsmith had succeeded in sending out a message. His warnings about what the Word Bearers were doing on Laomedeia, soon reached Theokon's Primarch, Perturabo, and the lord of the Iron Warriors led his Legion[1f] in razing the moon. Only Theokon and his captured Iron Warriors survived the slaughter that followed.[1g]
