Yoren Kipraus
Yoren Kipraus was a Cardinal of the Jericho Sector world Verronus, who became an Imperial Saint after being martyred during the Age of Apostasy.[1b]
History
His death came at the hands of the Over-Governors, whom High Lord Goge Vandire installed to rule the Jericho Sector. During that time, the Over-Governors became infamous for the speed and callousness they employed to swiftly expand their personal wealth and power.[1a] This caused Kipraus to be among those within the Sector who criticized the Over-Governors' rule. However, when he decided to speak publicly against Over-Governor and Arch-Cardinal Asterus' worldly sin and excess in 245.M36, the retaliation was swift. Kipraus was soon taken in the night by the Over-Governors' Frateris Templar forces, while his basilica was stripped and laid to waste. Kipraus' clergy also suffered the Over-Governors' wrath and were either slain or enslaved. The Cardinal then suffered months of torture, before he was declared a Heretic and was torn apart by marrow-jackals. His execution was shown as entertainment, during a great feast in the honour of the anniversary of the Over-Governors' appointment.[1b]
After the Age of Apostasy ended, though, the Ecclesiarch Sebastian Thor declared that the martyred Kipraus was to be made an Imperial Saint.[1b]
