The Fist of Russ, originally thought as the Fist of Demetrius, is an Imperial artifact.[1a]
A prized relic, this gauntleted fist was said to have once been worn by Leman Russ. In M41 the Fist was thought discovered on the world of Demetrius during the Macharian Crusade, though Dark Eldar raiders led by Lord Ashterioth soon stole it.[1a] A chase for the Fist then continued until the arrival of Space Wolves led by the Great Wolf Ulrik Grimfang arrived to claim it.[1b] It soon became apparent that the Fist was something ancient and powerful, capable of opening the Gate of the Ancients which will lead him to the Reality Engine within the Webway.[1b] It is eventually concluded by Grimfang that while the Fist may have been once possessed by the Wolves in the distant past, it was not the fabeled Fist of Russ.[1c]
