The '''Shuriken Catapult''' is the basic [[Eldar]] weapon that fires a plasti-crystal material in the form of a 'shuriken'. It uses a solid core forced up into the weapon using a 'magnetic repulsor'. A series of rapid high-energy impulses are produced at the rear of the weapon which then launch down the barrel. This impulse then cuts a single molecule thick of the plasti-crystal into a shuriken shape and hurles it from the front of the weapon at very high speeds. This method of slicing the solid slug allows the weapon to fire up to a hundred rounds in one or two seconds and each core is good for around 10 of these bursts. The downside is the lack of rifling in the barrel reducing the accuracy drastically, thereby reducing it's minimum range to one well under that of it's Imperial solid slug counterparts. The Eldar term for this weapon is ''tuelean''.

Shuriken Catapults are a type of Eldar Shuriken Weapon.[1]

Overview

Guardian Shuriken Catapult[1]

The standard type, firing razor-sharp monomolecular discs capable of slicing through flesh and penetrating a considerable thickness of plasteel armour. Humans sometimes refer to these weapons as star slingers or just slingers or sling guns, while its Eldar name is tuelean.[2] The shuriken catapult is the basic weapon of the Guardians, the citizen-militia of the Craftworlds, and is incorporated to certain other systems such as Eldar Jetbikes.[1]

In the ancient days of the Eldar during the War in Heaven, Shruiken Catapults resembled crossbows and did not have their acceleration arrays enclosed like modern-day models.[6]

Shuriken Catapult in First Edition[4]
  • In 1987's Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader, a Shuriken Catapult appeared that was different to their modern appearance. It possessed two polar fins (and sometimes additional fins) positioned laterally near its muzzle, which were the source of the magnetic vortex accelerating discs from a flat and circular magazine extension (most commonly situated horizontally, but sometimes positioned vertically).[4] This design was referenced in the 2025 novel Archmagos as a design dating back to the War in Heaven.[6]
