List of Space Marine Chapters

After the Horus Heresy, the remaining Space Marine Legions were ordered to split into smaller Chapters of a thousand Space Marines, in order to prevent any one person from being able to control so many troops ever again. Over time, the number of chapters has grown, and is said to number a thousand.
This is a list of the chapter nambed by Games Workshop in official texts, and does not include any "home grown" chapters, though it does include the Dread Legions of the Chaos Space Marines.
