Antonus Antwark
Antonus Antwark was the human shipmaster of the Infidus Imperator, the flagship of the Word Bearers Legion during the Battle of the Macragge's Honour. His immediate superior was First Captain Kor Phaeron, and his opposite number was the shipmaster of the Ultramarines' flagship, the Macragge's Honour, Ouon Hommed.[1a]
History
When Kor Phaeron failed to hold the weapons platforms in Calth orbit, he and his forces escaped to the Infidus Imperator, which fled the Veridian system with the Macragge's Honour in pursuit.
After the initial clash in realspace between the Imperator and the Honour, Kor Phaeron decreed it was time for the ship to escape into the warp. Antwark objected that that was not possible before the Navigators calculated a safe transit point, but Kor Phaeron simply slit the air with his athame, opening a warp rift that swallowed the Imperator. To the Word Bearers' surprise, the Honour followed them in.[1b]
Antwark noted the damage to the pursuers' engines, and guessed that the Imperator could outrun them, but Kor Phaeron ordered that the Imperator would run only long enough to break visual contact with the Honour, then turn about and destroy her.[1c]
However, during the final attack pass, the Honour acquired a firing solution and loosed a devastating volley at the smaller Imperator. Antwark reported the catastrophic damage to the ship with alarm, and turned to Kor Phaeron for orders, only to see that Phaeron had cut another hole in the air with his athame and escaped the ship. A few minutes later, the Ultramarines' second volley completely destroyed the Imperator, killing Antwark and all remaining hands aboard.[1d]
