History

Aradryan as an Eldar Ranger[1k]

Path of the Outcast

While walking the Path of the Dreamer with his dream-partner Korlandril, Aradryan became distressed after witnessing dead Eldar returning from battle having their Spirit Stones integrated with Alaitoc's Infinity Circuit. Overcome by claustrophobia and seeking freedom, Aradryan became a Steersman on a starship for twenty years.[1a] After returning to Alaitoc he reunited with his old friends Korlandril and Thirianna, but after publicly criticising Korlandril's new sculpture their friendship fractured. Moreover, he confessed his love for Thirianna but was rejected. These acts caused Aradryan to walk the Path of the Outcast with the Biel-tan Eldar Ranger Athelennil.[1b]

Embracing the free lifestyle of an outcast and learning the ways of the Ranger from Athelennil aboard the vessel Irdiris, his ship received a distress call from the Exodite World of Eileniliesh, which was under Ork attacked. Aradryan brought word back to Alaitoc of the emergency, and in the subsequent war for the planet against the Greenskins he was reunited with both Korlandril, now a Striking Scorpion and Thirianna, now a Farseer.[1c]

Afterwards, Aradryan and his fellow Rangers traveled to a Harlequin/Dark Eldar settlement in the Webway known as Khai-Dazaar. There, they join a group of mercenaries and Dark Eldar who agreed to aid them find Waystones on a dangerous Crone World.[1d] Traveling to the Eye of Terror with the Dark Eldar exile Maensith, the Harlequin Mediator Estrathain, and the Solitaire Lechthennian to the Crone World of Miarisillion, they find the Waystones of the world's damned inhabitants but come under attacks by Daemonettes.[1e] Despite his brush with death, Aradryan was thrilled with the danger and decided to stay with Maensith and become an Eldar Corsair.[1f]

Eventually rising to Maensith's lover and second in command, the group were successful against their raids on Human worlds. During the raid on Daethronin, Aradryan manipulated his corsairs into betraying their Dark Eldar allies Yrithain and Khiadysis by luring them into a trap against the Humans.[1f] He was able to force the Human Governor of Daethronin into giving tribute and aid to his fleet, executing the man's son to prove his power.[1g]

However, Aradryan's arrogance eventually got the better of him. While attacking a heavily defended Human convoy, they were lured into a trap by Space Marines and their vessel Fae Taeruth was crippled during the attack.[1h] Moreover, his actions against Khiadysis caused them to seek revenge by provoking an Imperial Invasion of Alaitoc. During the subsequent battle, Aradryan was able to arrive in the later stages and reveal the truth to the Imperial Space Marines, which subsequently withdrew.[1i] After the truth of the affair came to light, Aradryan was summoned by Alaitoic's Seer Council but was confronted by Thirianna, who revealed she had been subtly manipulating him the entire time to avoid Alaitoc's destruction.[1j]

Ynnari

Having brought slaughter to his home, Aradryan turned to the Path of Grieving and served on it for many cycles. He was later mustered as a Guardian to operate a Vibro-cannon at a critical chokepoint to cut off a force of Black Legionnaires which threatened Alaitoc. Aradryan was powerless as his crewmate Diamedin perished and their position nearly overrun when the Ynnari appeared as if from nowhere to their salvation: atop the prow of a Drukhari Raider was Yvraine, beside her the Visarch. Alaitoc was relieved, and sent to retreat where Aradryan first had a moment to discuss the Ynnari with his fellows.[2]

Preparing to inter Diamedin and the other shrouded dead, Aradryan was approached by Thirianna sensing again uncertainty in his path. She confronted him about his skein, which now pointed towards the Ynnari, and asked him to reconsider his path. He rebuked her dissent sensing new hope for the Eldar with Ynnead. Unexpectedly Thirianna embraced him recognizing the sincerity of his position, and Aradryan left for a future among the Ynnari.[2]
