Korlandril was an Eldar of Craftworld Alaitoc. He originally followed the Path of the Dreamer, then the Path of the Awakening,[1c] and finally the Path of the Artist, becoming a sculptor of some renown. However, things changed when his best friend Aradryan returned from a long time in space. Korlandril looked forward to renewing their friendship, but Aradryan had been changed by his long time away, and in fact decided to leave Alaitoc again only a short time later. Nor was Aradryan able to entirely conceal his opinion that Alaitoc had come to seem closed and parochial, or that Korlandril's sculpture had become sterile and repetitive.[1b]

Restless, and not entirely sure how to deal with the unfamiliar feelings of anger and resentment stirred by Aradryan's visit, Korlandril made a romantic proposal to their longtime shared friend, Thirianna, only for her to rebuff his advances. Needing an outlet for his suddenly intense rage, he turned to the Path of the Warrior and the Aspect Temples. Drawn to the Temple of the Striking Scorpion, the shadow-bound hunter, the shadow of Khaine, Korlandril worked to channel his anger into the way of war.[1c]

Trained in the hidden art by Kenainath, Exarch of the Shrine, Korlandril worked to combine his talents as an artist with a distilled version of his primitive bloodlust, combining both aspects to turn his body into a thing of lethal beauty. Korlandril`s first task was against the Ork on Eileniliesh, an Exodite world. The Aspect Warriors struck a hammer-blow, though Korlandril was heavily injured by the hand of an Ork Warlord.[1d]

Escorted back to Alaitoc, Korlandril was healed, but only after a heated mental battle in which he risked losing control of his "War-mask". An Aspect Warrior is only expected to show his war-mask once battle is joined, not during times of peace. Korlandril, however, failed to keep this important division between his rage and his other emotions. Instead, he lost the identity wrought from his previous Paths, and his personality boiled down into the purest incarnation of an Eldar warrior, an Exarch.[1e]

Abandoned from the Shrine of the Deadly Shadow, Korlandril, spurned by the message of the Autarch`s headed towards a long, abandoned Shrine of the Striking Scorpion, only to be bereft of his own body, as his soul was consumed by a far more ancient Eldar presence, manifesting, alongside its former personalities, as Morlaniath, one of the founding Exarchs of the Aspect.[1f]

Korlandril is encompassed by Morlaniath, revealing how the Exarch`s Keninaith and Aranarha are but conglomerations of many Eldar of the history of the Craftworld forged into one archaic suite of armour. [1g]

War stirred with the arrival of the Phoenix Lords Baharroth, Maugan Ra and Karandras to Alaitoc. The Young King was scarified to awaken the Avatar of Khaine, the Aspect Temples united, and Alaitoc readied for battle, as the Imperium launched a frontal assault against the Craftworld with thousands of Guardsmen charging orbital defences, spearheaded by the Adeptus Astartes. As the battle raged on, Karandras sacrificed himself to save Bechareth, a former Dark Eldar Incubi, now pursuing the Path of the Warrior as a Striking Scorpion. Morlaniath then allowed himself to be consumed and became the new host of Karandras. Karandras then proceeded to fight against the invading Imperial forces.[1g]
