Ceretan was the site of a battle between the Space Wolves[1a] and the Chaos Lord Lupus'[1h] Black Legion forces.[1f]
History
As the Space Wolves were being sent to Ceretan, it seemed certain they would defeat the Black Legion. Because of this, they dispatched the Battle Leader Audun to aid the Imperial world Lya'Bru, after it was invaded by Orks.[1a] When Audun arrived at Lya'Bru though, he faced a full scale-invasion from the Orks' Goffs Tribe, and not a mere raid, as the Space Wolves had thought. While Audun fought the Orks, he also attempted to warn the Space Wolves on Ceretan about the invasion, but his communications were blocked.[1c]
The Battle Leader was unaware,[1c] that the blockage was caused by[1i][1j] the Black Legion Chaos Lord Lupus,[1h] who had used the Goffs as puppets to pave the way for his own invasion of Lya'Bru.[1e] It was the Chaos Lord's forces that were fighting the Space Wolves on Ceretan as well[1f] and, Lupus ensured that Audun was unable to warn his Battle Brothers about the Orks' invasion.[1i][1j] The Chaos Lord also sought to kill the Space Wolves on Ceretan for the glory of the Chaos Gods and Lupus tricked them into falling into a trap. This allowed the Chaos Lord's Black Legion forces to slaughter the Space Marines. When Audun learned of their deaths and of Lupus' involvement, the Battle Leader tracked down[1f] and killed the Chaos Lord.[1h]
