Lya'Bru is an Imperial world,[1a] that contains ancient ruins and Xenos relics.[1d]

History

It was also once invaded by the Orks of the Goffs Tribe,[1a] who captured or killed the Astra Militarum Guardsmen, who defended Lya'Bru.[1b] The world sent out a plea for aid, which was received by the Space Wolves on Ceretan. Though they were battling the Black Legion, victory seemed certain and the Chapter dispatched a strike force, led by the Battle Leader Audun, to save Lya'Bru.[1a] When Audun arrived there though, he faced a full scale-invasion from the Orks and not a mere raid, as the Space Wolves had thought.[1b] During the invasion, Audun went on to free as many of Lya'Bru's captured Guardsmen as he could, so they could aid in the battle against the Goffs.[1b] He also attempted to warn the Space Wolves on Ceretan about the invasion, but Audun found that his communications were blocked.[1c]

The Battle Leader was unaware,[1c] that the blockage was caused by[1m][1n] the Black Legion Chaos Lord Lupus,[1i] who had used the Goffs as puppets to pave the way for his own invasion of Lya'Bru.[1f] It was the Chaos Lord's forces that were fighting the Space Wolves on Ceretan as well[1g] and, Lupus ensured that Audun was unable to warn his Battle Brothers about the Orks' invasion.[1m][1n] The Chaos Lord then successfully launched a trap, that allowed his forces to kill the Space Wolves on Ceretan, for the glory of the Chaos Gods.[1g] Audun later not only discovered that the Black Legion were fighting beside the Orks on Lya'Bru,[1e] but also learned of his Battle Brothers' deaths on Ceretan. He was informed of this by an Asuryani Farseer from the Craftworld Ulthwé,[1g] who emerged from a Webway Portal. This Farseer also sought an alliance with Audun for mutual survival in order to defeat the invading Orks and Black Legion. Audun agreed[1f] and the Farseer then offered to lead the Battle Leader to Lupus as well. Audun stated though, that he would only search for the Chaos Lord, after Lya'Bru was saved.[1g] To that end, he led his new alliance to successfully defeat the Goffs. This then caused the remaining Orks to turn upon themselves and Lupus' Black Legion forces as well.[1h]

Lya'Bru was then effectively saved and an Ultramarines relief force arrived soon afterwards.[1h] However, the Ultramarines were ambushed upon landing and later encountered Audun's alliance. The sight of the Space Wolves working with the Ulthwé infuriated the relief force's Commander, but Audun stated his reasons for doing so. When the Battle Leader steadily refused to stand aside and allow the Ultramarines to kill the Xenos, the Commander launched an attack upon the alliance. Though the Ultramarines tried to destroy both of their forces, the Space Wolves and Ulthwé emerged victorious against the relief force.[1i] Audun's alliance then left Lya'Bru to pursue Lupus,[1j] unaware that the Ultramarines were following them. However the three forces put aside their differences[1k] in order to defeat the Chaos Lord's hordes on Eradinos and Audun personally killed Lupus.[1l]
