Lupus
Lupus was a Black Legion Chaos Lord, who once ruled over[1j] the Daemon World Eradinos.[1h]
History
His forces fought the Space Wolves on Ceretan,[1f] while Lupus also used Orks from the Goffs Tribe to pave the way for his invasion of Lya'Bru.[1e] However the Orks' attack led the Space Wolves on Ceretan to send the Battle Leader[1a] Audun[1d] to save the Imperial world.[1a] Once Audun realized the Goffs were waging a full-scale invasion and highly outnumbered his strike force, though,[1b] he attempted to warn his Battle Brothers on Ceretan.[1c] But Lupus sought to kill the Space Wolves there for the glory of the Chaos Gods and blocked Audun's communications.[1k][1l] This allowed the Chaos Lord to trick the Space Marines into falling in his trap and they were slaughtered by Lupus' Black Legion forces.[1f]
After achieving his victory on Ceretan, Lupus attempted to kill Audun's Space Wolves and the meddling Craftworld Ulthwé on Lya'Bru.[1e] Though his forces were able to destroy one Ulthwé group and their Farseer,[1l][1m] another group of the Asuryani later made contact with Audun. Its Farseer offered an alliance with the Battle Leader, as he warned that Lupus sought to kill them all. By doing so, the Farseer said they could defeat the Black Legion and their Ork puppets. Audun agreed,[1e] though he asked why the Xenos leader sought to do so. The Farseer then told the Battle Leader of visions he had received, which showed that Lupus' killing of the Space Wolves would effectively breed Chaos. As it did when the Chaos Lord had killed them on Ceretan and brought glory to the Chaos Gods. When Audun learned of this, he vowed to avenge his Battle Brothers deaths at the Chaos Lord's hands, but only after Lya'Bru was saved.[1f] The Battle Leader and Ulthwé then successfully destroyed the Goffs weapon and ammo storage areas on the world. This not only permanently crippled the Orks' offensive, but also caused the Goffs to turn upon themselves and the Black Legion as well. After then destroying the Traitor Legion's ships, so they could not escape the Orks' wrath, Audun effectively ended the invasion.[1g]
With Lya'Bru now saved,[1g] Audun began his revenge against Lupus. The Battle Leader soon invaded the Chaos Lord's Daemon World, Eradinos, with his alliance. The Space Wolves and Ulthwé[1h] were also aided by the Ultramarines[1i] and the three defeated Lupus' Black Legion and Daemon forces.[1j] Audun then confronted the Chaos Lord and killed Lupus in a duel.[1j]
