Dragonsplice Lance
"Let none of Dragonsplice Lance be found wanting in their duty. Let none who spend the coin of courage and valour freely be denied their due honour."
Dragonsplice Lance is a House Griffith lance, whose Knights are sworn to their commander, Lord Oderik Griffith, by ties of blood and fealty.[1]
History
The lance is among the Imperium's forces that are defending Fortress 23-Alphus from a Tyranid invasion. During the course of the battle, the Dragonsplice began hunting down a Winged Hive Tyrant that had massacred hundreds of Imperial forces, including the world's Imperial Commander. Oderik vowed to her as she died that the Dragonsplice would kill the beast. His Quarry Hounds Bondsmen, Lhya and Viskus, were charged with tracking the Hive Tyrant and the two went ahead of the rest of the Lance. Three cycles later, the Hounds voxed back that the Hive Tyrant's trail led to a canyon. Contact was lost with the two afterwards, but the rest of the Dragonsplice were able to find the canyon the Hounds had described.[1]
Once they arrived, the lance saw no signs of the Quarry Hounds, and soon entered the canyon. They only found a Tyranid swarm at first, but then the Winged Hive Tyrant and three Carnifexes appeared as well. As the battle began, the Dragonsplice's remaining Bondsmen dealt with the Tyranid swarm, while the Nobles fought the Carnifexes and Oderik charged directly towards the Tyrant.[1]
