Explorator Fleet Rhi-Alpha-2
Explorator Fleet Rhi-Alpha-2 was an Adeptus Mechanicus Explorator Fleet of the former Forge World Gryphonne IV. The flotilla's flagship was the Kurzgesagt lead by Lord Explorator Satavic Yuel.[1a]
History
Of the 9 ships comprising Rhi-Alpha-2, 3 were destroyed during the evacuation of Gryphonne IV. During the evacuation, the fleet would break through a wall of bioforms encircling the planet's atmosphere, both to enter and escape. The void weaponry of the vessels made entry into low orbit easier than their exit.[1b]
After punching a hole through the swarm of biomass obfuscating the planet's surface, the fleet would graze the edge of Gryphonne IV's atmosphere. They would remain there for just under 4 minutes, taking on as many ships as they could. The Erudite and Decimus/AYX would be destroyed when attempting to depart from Gryphonne IV's orbit. Decimus/AYX drove headlong into a bioship, both engulfed in flames. The Erudite's shields had fallen and the ship was swarmed by smaller bioforms entering through fissures they created in its hull. The Kurzgesagt would be fatally wounded after its shields collapsed and the flank of the ship erupted in green flames. But the ship continued to fly true even though it was fatally wounded and trailing it's mechanical innards. The rest of the fleet followed through, trailing flames and wreckage.[1b]
The surviving ships of Rhi-Alpha-2 would burst free of the orbital hellscape; hulls laden with refugees, machines, and precious data.[1b] The remaining ship of the Explorator fleet would join the remnants of the Gryphonne IV armada and move toward the system's secondary Mandeville point.[1c]
