The Australian Games Day & Golden Demon 2000 was the third annual Games Day and Golden Demon event held in Australia. It was held on 22 October 2000.
Overview
This was the first Australian Games Day to be held at the Hordern Pavilion in Moore Park. Over 1,500 people attended the event. Fifty gaming tables were avaliable for participants at the event, including three "Big Games" held on tables representing specific worlds in the Warhammer 40,000 universe. These were the Laniena III table, the Rynn's World table, and the Fortis Binary table.[1] A Warhammer Fantasy display table was set up with over 1,500 miniatures painted by the various Games Workshop stores around Australia. Matt Weaver created all the terrain for that table.[3]
Jes Goodwin was the special guest speaker, and signed some attendees' Land Raider models.[2]
Painting events were also held, including a five minute painting challenge, as well as Golden Demon. For Golden Demon over 700 entires were presented,[1] more than the number of entries at 1998 and 1999 combined. The judges for Golden Demon were Jes Goodwin, and the 1998 and 1999 Slayer Sword winners; Leigh Carpenter and Paul Cairncross[4a] Glenn Lamprecht won the Slayer Sword with his entry of Wood Elf Scouts.[1]
