Gauss weapon
"Elsewhere I saw but twisted light, a haze like the hottest summer's heat flickering over the landing pad at our retreat. The distortion of the air was something like this - a rending of the air itself, not flame or light or bright star-shine as I have seen our weapons vomit upon the foes. Yet where the lance beams struck was wrought such unthinkable destruction! I witnessed my own Abbot dance upon that spear of agony, his flesh peeled form him layer upon layer, his skin flayed first revealing bloodied flesh, his flesh to tendon, gut and gristle, and then only his bones until nothing. All this I saw distinctly ad the agony of it, for he was not killed but dissected living, of that I am sure, until he was simply gone... yet all this happened in a heartbeat... a heartbeat"
Gauss Weaponry are horrifying devices used by the Necrons.[1] Some Mechanicus Xenarite Techpriests have also managed to reverse engineer and create human Gauss Weapons.[2]
Overview
These weapons break down the target into its component molecules layer by layer and attract the molecules back to the gun at incredible speed.[1] This creates a flaying effect which can vaporise the most heavily armoured warrior or blast a hole in a Land Raider. This means that even the most basic Necron Warrior has a chance to blast a hole through the heaviest armour and completely vaporise the most skilled Space Marine.[1]
Gauss-weapons work similarly to Imperial teleportation technology, breaking down the energy bonds within individual atoms, reducing them to energy, which can then be stored and replicated back into matter for later use in a similar fashion to other Necron technologies. In a similar manner to how persons and objects are broken down into energy by teleportation, and then rematerialized elsewhere.[5a]

Human Gauss Weapons
Trivia
- Necron weaponry is not entirely understood by the Imperium, and so "gauss weapon" serves as a convenient, but not entirely accurate, description. The closest analog in human history is the M2-era Gauss rifle, which uses magnetic propulsion to accelerate a solid projectile towards the weapon's target, rather than using this force to strip away particles from the target.
