Gemael
Gemael was an Atraxian Colonel of Battlegroup Kalidar.[1b]
Biography
Gemael was a hardline follower of the Tactica Imperium, considering any deviation from its maxims (or at least his interpretation of them) as tantamount to heresy. During the Kalidar War he was vehement in his rejection of the notion that the enemy orks (specifically Blood Axes) were capable of employing any sort of stealth tactics. It even got to the point that he sentenced several Guardsmen to death for suggesting that the orks were using stealth.[1b]
In 328.397.M41 one of the Battlegroup's divisions, including the Command Leviathan Magnificence, was stationed in Macaree's Tablelands.[1a] Gemael was in charge of setting the Imperial camps nearby[1b] while a number of the Imperial officers were attending a function aboard the Magnificence.[1a]
During the night, however, a warband of orks attacked the Imperial positions under the cover of a sandstorm.[1a][1b] Although they were driven off, they did significant damage to a number of super-heavy vehicles (including the Magnificence itself) and killed a number of Guardsmen (including at least four officers). In the aftermath of the attack, Captain-General Iskhandrian had disciplinary charges filed against Gemael, Ostilek and Tulligen, citing their treasonous lack of adaptability as being responsible for Imperial losses.[1b]
