Glori Emagna was an Ordo Hereticus Inquisitor, who styled herself a humble penitent, but in fact had the will of a ruthless tyrant.[1a]

History

While her Ordo counts psykers amongst its foes, Emagna believed the Imperium misused their power. To the Inquisitor, they were blood-and-flesh machines that the God-Emperor had gifted to the Imperium and were to be used as such. This included having psykers function as message conduits, weapons of war and navigational devices. Emagna claimed that if the Imperium shared her views, then Mankind could avoid so much unnecessary disaster and strife. In M42, she sought to put her beliefs into action, after the Inquisitor learned of a psychic beacon on the Imperial world Malakbael. Known as the Choral Engine, it was located within the Imperium Nihilus and acted as a minor version of Terra's Astronomican.[1a]

The Inquisitor sought to use this to aid the worlds stranded in that beleaguered realm, but just like the Astronomican the Choral Engine drew on the life energies of psykers. This was of no consequence for Emagna, as she could replace them as need be in order to keep the psychic beacon empowered[1a]. However her rivals within the Inquisition warned Emagna that activating the Engine would draw the enemies of the Imperium to it and cause her doom as well. She ignored their warnings, though, and accused them of being heretics[1b], before putting her plans into action. Emagna knew of course that the Choral Engine would need to be protected, but the Inquisitor knew her considerable influence and resources would not be enough. This led Emagna to meet with Fleetmaster Trincus Abconcis, who commanded Indomitus Crusade Fleet Quartus. At that time, the Fleet had been hit with a series of setbacks, which caused it to fall behind the grueling schedule that Lord Commander Guilliman had set for it. When the Groupmaster first saw Emagna, however, Abconcis feared she had come to enact judgement upon him for his failures. Emagna quickly assured him that was not the case and told Abconcis of how he could make up for his shortcomings. After learning of the Choral Engine and its abilities, the Groupmaster soon agreed to use Fleet Quartus' might to aid the Inquisitor in defending it.[1a]

Working together they heavily fortified the Choral Engine, but its psychic energies eventually drew the attention of the Daemon Primarch Angron, who sought to destroy the beacon. Leading a Blood Wave of World Eaters and the Daemons of Khorne, Angron entered the Malak System and attacked the Indomitus Crusade Fleet Quartus forces defending the System. His goal was the beacon itself, though, and he rampaged through the Imperials in order to reach Malakbael. When Emagna learned Angron had entered the Malak System, she knew in an instant that her critics had been right, but this did not cause her to despair. The Inquisitor instead believed that this was a blessing from the God-Emperor, as Emagna now had a chance to use the Choral Engine's psychic powers against a Daemon Primarch[1b]. However even its might was not enough to stop Angron, whose forces aided him in slaying the Imperial forces on Malakbael that were defending the beacon. Emagna was among them, after being cut down by a Bloodthirster, and shortly afterwards, the Choral Engine was destroyed by the Daemon Prince and the resulting explosion shattered the Imperial world.[1c]
