The Malak System was a System located within the Imperium Nihilus[1a]

History

In M37, the Governor of Malakhvar Saint Gedwael "The Builder" built a great many shrines upon Malakbael. These machinations led to him overseeing the construction of a series of formidable fortresses, orbital defense stations, Defense Lasers, and intra-system communications/detection networks across the System. However until M42, it was considered an unremarkable place within the Imperium.[1c]

After the discovery of the mysterious Choral Engine on the world by Inquisitor Glori Emagna, Malakbael became a vital world within the Imperium Nihilus. As such, it was a mustering point for Indomitus Crusade Fleet Quartus under Fleetmaster Trincus Abconcis, who assembled a great host there in preparation for an expected Chaos attack after warning by the Grey Knights.[1a]

In the subsequent Battle of Malak, Malakbael was assailed by the forces of the World Eaters led by Angron himself, who was attracted by the Choral Engine. In the final stages of the battle, Angron was empowered by Khorne to destroy the Choral Engine, causing a catastrophic chain reaction which saw the entire planet blown apart. In its wake is a Warp Rift from which Daemons of Khorne erupt. The other worlds of the Malak System were battered with debris following Malakbael's destruction.[1b]
