Haemophagic Blades are mnemonic steel weapons[1a], that belong to Necromunda's ruling House Helmawr. They can create a potent and utterly deadly neurotoxin, that is keyed specifically to a foe[1b] and those that share their bloodline.[1a]

History

A mere drop of blood is enough to trigger the weapons and because of their abilities, the Blades are considered to be among the more horrific weapons to come out of Planetary Governor Gerontius Helmawr's armouries[1b]. During Necromunda's Great Darkness in M42, one was wielded by Gerontius' Trueborn son Nyco in a meeting called for by his sister Haera. It was in fact a ruse to gather Gerontius' Trueborn heirs in one place, so Haera could kill them and succeed her Father. Despite the other Trueborn seeking to attack Haera for this however, Nyco instead used his Blade to fatally poison his brother Kartar. He then turned the weapon upon Haera, but she was able to fend off Nyco's attacks, without being struck and then strangled him to death.[1a]
