Haranshemash the "world of blood and tears", formerly known as Haran, is an Eldar Exodite World above which a Warp Rift manifested, but the Farsight and intervention of Eldrad Ulthran and Ulthwé saved the doomed world.[1a]
History
In what is considered his greatest prediction, Eldrad Ulthran foretold a warp rift rupturing space above the Exodite world of Haran allowing the forces of Chaos to pour forth – why Haran had been chosen by Chaos as the location of their incursion is unknown, but it may have been because of the world's connections to the Webway from which the Daemons could launch an invasion[1a] upon other Exodite Worlds.[2]
Because of Eldrad's visions, when the rift opened the Eldar were prepared and waiting, the Farseer himself leading the forces of Ulthwé. However, it was not enough to stem the tide of Daemons and Chaos Space Marines. The Eldar fought for for long months to hold Chaos at bay: Exodites, Ulthwé, Outcasts from other Craftworlds, and even the Phoenix Lords.[1a] Fuegan reappeared for the first time since the destruction of the Shrine of Asur.[1b] At various points the Warp Rift threatened to consume the planet, but ultimately the Eldar triumphed, though at a terrible cost. The planet was denied to Chaos but thereafter was known as Haranshemash: the "world of blood and tears".[1a]
