Kayex-8

Kayex-8, also spelled KX-8, is an Enginseer of the Adeptus Mechanicus and foremost tech priest serving the Rogue Trader Shipmistress Brahms. He attends to her flagship, the Mourningstar, and all machinery aboard.[1a]
Overview
In early M42, he continues his long service to the rogue trader as the Shipmistress, and by extension those in service to her, aid in Inquisitor Grendyl's goals on Atoma Prime.[1e]
The Inquisitor's foremost tech priest acolyte, Technoarcheologist Hadron Omega-7-7, first requested the assistance of Kayex-8 in order to find an illicit stimm production facility within district HL-70-04, "The Carnival", of Hive Tertium. Kayex had done a deep system-study of the district prior, and Hadron requested that he link into the systems to search for anomalies in the local fusion grid. Hadron suspected that the hidden blighted-stimm production facility used by the treacherous Moebian 6th was using large amounts of power siphoned from the local power grid.[1a]
An Enginseer's skill as a technician and knowledge of machine lore is unsurpassed by any other human. Through their techno-empathy they can interface their mind directly with a Cogitator to track down malfunctions, access a database, or reconstruct a program.[2] Kayex-8 employs this skill to track down the anomalous activity in the fusion grid and directs an Inquisition strike team to the location of the blighted stimm production facility deep in Warren 6-19. As strike teams near the heretic-controlled facility Kayex-8 becomes more and more enraged by their torture and perversion of the machine spirits in Tertium. He seeks vengeance for these Children of the Omnissiah and hopes Hive Tertium's machines can be restored to their pious functions once again.[1a]
Moebian Steel Research
With the recent discovery of Clandestium Gloriana, a long-forgotten manufactory deep within the bowels of Tertium was recently rediscovered, and with it the ability to produce Moebian Steel. This steel is far better than the standard steel produced in Tertium.[1d] However the facility is only able to produce small amounts of Moebian Steel and a time and is an area contested by Moebian 6th.[1c]
Hadron Omega-7-7 is researching this ancient archeotech marvel and attempting to recreate the processes of Moebian Steel production on a larger scale in HL-17-16, known as Metalfab 36.[1b] The Enginseer's technical skill is required in order to help facilitate her experiments to unlock the Rite of Steel using the metalfab's primary smelter.[1c]
