Lance of Jove
The Lance of Jove is a Thunderhawk in the Ultramarines Chapter's 2nd Company and has served it for several centuries.[1a][2c]
History
It took part in defending Graia, when the Forge World was invaded by the Ork hordes of Warboss Grimskull. Led by Captain Demetrian Titus, the Ultramarines' 2nd Company was among the Imperial forces that sought to protect Graia and he rode aboard the Lance of Jove, as they made planetfall. However the Thunderhawk was damaged by the Orks' fire before it could reach the Forge World. Titus was determined though and told the Lance's pilot to return to the Company's Strike Cruiser, Fury of Descent, while his Command Squad performed an orbital drop with Jump Packs. The Captain, Sergeant and Leandros leapt from the Thunderhawk and successfully landed on Graia.[1a] The Forge World was later invaded by the Chaos forces of The Chosen of Nemeroth Warband and the Lance of Jove transported the Captain to the orbital spire that held their master, the Sorcerer Lord Nemeroth. Titus would successfully kill the Sorcerer Lord and put an end to Nemeroth's plot to become a Daemon Prince. Though Graia was now saved, with the Orks and Warband defeated, the Captain was taken into custody by the Inquisition, after Leandros accused Titus of having committed Heresy during the battle.[1b]

Centuries later, the Lance of Jove still served the 2nd Company, as it was led by Captain Sevastus Acheran, during the defense of the Tyranid invaded Recidious System.[2c] As that conflict raged, however, Titus was reinstated by the Ultramarines and made a Lieutenant. He was then charged with leading Combat Squad Damocles, which used the Thunderhawk Absolver to carry out its missions.[2a] While on Kadaku, though, the Absolver was attacked[2b] by the Thousand Sons forces of the Sorcerer Lord Imurah,[2d] as it was evacuating the Archmagos Nozick Beta-12. This caused the Thunderhawk to crash and the Archmagos was killed,[2b] along with the Squad members Lyreo and Altareus.[2c] Titus and the surviving Squad members, Gadriel and Chairon, had still been planetside when this occurred and were spared from the disaster. Afterwards, the remnants of Combat Squad Damocles began using the Lance of Jove for their missions against the Tyranids[2c] and Imurah's forces.[2d]
