Laspistol
The laspistol (also known as blazer or blooger)[1] is a smaller, more compact, pistol-version of the lasgun. They are the default firearms of Imperial officers who do not have access to more expensive equipment, such as plasma pistols or bolt pistols.

Overview
There is little standardization in the design of laspistols, most worlds producing their own versions. The most unconventional designs are the derringer-type pistols and the ornate and hand-crafted dueling pistols. The Imperial Guard Rough Riders are armed with a Laspistol due to their assault-oriented role. Some soldiers may change their equipment to include the popular combination of Laspistol and Close Combat Weapon, usually the veteran squad members. A Commissar is often equipped with a Laspistol and Close Combat Weapons to allow him to lead the men from the front and show that he is with his men rather than using officer class weaponry that Guardsmen don't have access to. A laspistol does not have anywhere near the range of the lasgun, as the power of the las-bolt dissipates into the atmosphere after only a short distance.[2]
However, within its limited range, it has the same devastating result as a lasgun, producing an explosion upon contact with a target. The laspistol lacks the lasgun's selective fire options, having only the ability to fire single shots.[2] The limited range of the weapon makes it primarily used for gaining an extra attack in close combat, and actually shooting the gun is sometimes foregone in favour of this attack. Laspistols are mainly used by Imperial Guard Officers and advisers, including Commissars, Techpriest Enginseers and Sanctioned Psykers.[13a]
Known Patterns
Accatran MG variant heavy laspistol
This is one of the laspistol patterns produced on Accatran Forge World.[8b]
Accatran pattern Mk II
Also produced on Accatran, this heavy laspistol utilises the same powercell as the Accatran pattern lasgun. It is issued to officers and specialists. Elysian Drop Troops are known to make use of this model.[7] Used by officers of the Astra Militarum throughout the galaxy, this heavy laspistol packs a considerable punch.[19b]
Belasco Dueling Pistol
The Belasco Dueling Pistol is a type of Laspistol often used for ostentatious displays of wealth and status. Most types can fire only a single powerful las-blast before needing reloading, but they are extremely accurate over long ranges.[9a]
Belasco Series-S “Venom” Compact Laspistol
The Belasco Series-S “Venom” Compact Laspistol is an usual pattern produced on Malfi. Designed for covert use it is highly useable for murder and espionage. The highly compact laspistol is shaped as a flat disk with a short barrel-emitter. Held in the hand the barrel projects outward between the middle fingers and is fired by a hidden trigger. Due to its design the Venom doesn’t use standard power packs but its internal power cell must be recharged by standard port after each use.[20b]
Civitas Pattern Laspistol
The Civitas Pattern Laspistol is produced in the millions on almost every major hive world for use by civilians and planetary defence forces. Using lower quality components than a military-grade lapspistol the Civitas is somewhat bulky and underpowered and can be furnished from simple polysteel and resin to hand-carved night corral.[20a]
Kantrael MG 'Defender' pattern
This pattern is a standard issue to NCOs and officers in the Regiments of Cadian Shock Troopers.[8a]
Kantrael Mk X Heavy Laspistol
Dubbed the 'defender', the Kantrael MG is the sidearm of choice for Cadian regiments, and has likewise found favour amongst the Moebian 100th 'Steepleguard'.[19a]
Khayer-Addin Duelling Las
The Khayer-Addin Duelling Las is handcrafted to the highest quality by Khayer-Addin and is considered a masterwork of gunsmithing. Focusing on a single shot kill the Dueling Las is equipped with a unique charge cartridge that function as a pre-loaded hot-shot pack and is especially effective against armoured targets.[20a]
Khulan V pattern Laspistol
The Khulan V pattern Laspistol is a standard Munitorum-issue firearm. Some are used by the Tanith First & Only, having been shipped from Khulan to Tanith for finishing before the regiment's founding. These have a handmade nalwood grip and their power pack is small enough to be fitted into a boot heel.[22]
Mark IV "Dervish"
The Dervish laspistol was originally created by the Hox Conglomerate in the Calixis Sector as viable laser weapon alternative to stub weapons produced in Gunmetal City on Scintilla. It never truly caught on amongst the criminal underclasses, but it did found a market amongst those travelling to Frontier worlds or unexplored locations. The Dervish offers a combination of reliability and power that is appealing to those who do not have a steady supply of bullets.[10]
Mars Pattern Mark IV Command Laspistol
The high-powered Mars Pattern Mark IV Command Laspistol is designed for carefully placed shot at longer range. Featuring a heavy barrel and being slightly heavier than standard service pistols the Mark IV is presented to officers when they attain company command.[20d]
Nihilus Pattern
Variant used by House Van Saar of Necromunda.[16]
Mons-Pattern
A pattern of Laspistol manufactured by House Mons of Alecto. They have been in production for over a thousand years and range from antique relics to cheap variants like the model .402 which can easily be purchased from Alecto's less reputable stores.[18]
Ryza-Pattern Mk VII Heavy Laspistol
The Ryza-Pattern Mk VII Heavy Laspistol is issued to officers.[21]
Scythe Pattern
It is only known that it is a rare pattern of laspistol.[15]
Sollex Pattern-VII “Steel Burner” Heavy Laspistol
The Sollex Pattern-VII “Steel Burner” Heavy Laspistol, sometimes called a las-hand cannon, is produced by the Mechanicus Sollex sect on Fenksworld. Because the Steel Burner produces a more powerful charge power packs are drained faster. The weapon can use hot-shot packs or be overcharged but both actions can cause the gun to overheat.[20b]
Takara Palatine Compact Laspistol
The Takara Palatine Compact Laspistol is made by advanced manufacturing so that it possesses the same stopping power as most military laspistols despite being half the size. Exclusively produced by the Takara Fane of Gunmetal City, for the last century the Takara Palatine is popular with mercenaries as well as with nobles[20a], who customise their weapon with intricate lacquer work and inlays of precious metals.[20b]
Triplex Pattern “Fury” Assault Laspistol
The rare Triplex Pattern “Fury” Assault Laspistol is most often used by elite assault squads. It fires in short bursts to take out enemies without slowing the advance.[20c]
Variants
Archeotech Laspistol
An Archeotech Laspistol, also known as a Lasrod or Gelt Gun, is an ancient design of Laspistol with much greater range and power, and is also more efficient with more shots per charge than most las weapons. It can be fired like a standard pistol, but many are equipped with folding stocks and longer barrels so they can be fired two handed for more accuracy. They are extremely rare and very few people other than Rogue Traders or collectors knew they exist. In the Koronus Expanse they are regarded as statements of rank or status.[9b]
