Malk'la
From Warhammer 40k - Lexicanum
The Malk'la is a type of ritual punishment in the Tau Empire.[1]
Considered a rare event, Malk'la can only be declared by an Ethereal against a Tau who has erred in a particularly grievous fashion. Those subjected to this punishment are rendered pariahs in their own society. Often, such souls will seek to sell out their lives in hopes of regaining their status with a worthy death.[1]
Known Instances
- Commander Farsight - Farsight was subjected to Malk'a for breaking away from the T'au Empire when he was captured by Aun'Va in 997.M41[2]
- Tash'var Shi Kais - Tau Commander subjected to Malk'a for atrocities against non-Tau during the ill-fated Fourth Sphere of Expansion.[3]
- Two Unnamed Tau Commanders - Farsight was aware of at least two Tau Commanders who underwent Malk'la before him. One passed the trial, while the other did not and, presumedly, perished.[2]
