History
It was rumoured that within the inky pitch of Aelindrach lay a portal to a world of Shade-Daemons which could freeze souls by touch.[2]
The rumour was only partly correct as the portal had not been opened yet, in truth this was the goal of Kheradruakh the Decapitator, the Mandrake king, who spent eight millenia collecting perfect skulls. During the Dysjunction caused by the apotheosis of Yvraine, the decapitator collected his final skull for his obsesive underground ritual. The gaze of all thousand bored a hole in the wall between worlds, and a gateway to the Midnight Dimension was opened – ushering forth from it a morass of Mandrakes and other Tenebreous Monsters.[1]
Trivia
- The Midnight Dimension may have been inspired by the colourless and cold alternative reality of the Negative Zone within the Timescape in Talisman: Timescape (1988).
Notes
- The calamity which befell Aelindrach is described as leaving the subrealm existing in several dimensions simultaneously.[3] The other dimension may be the Midnight Dimension.
