The Moebian Sixth was one of many Astra Militarum Regiments raised in the Moebian Domain, tasked with defending the sector's borders of the Moebian Domain, colloquially referred to as the fringe regions, from Chaos and Xenos threats, locally called the "Darktide". Recruited mostly from Atoma Prime, the Moebian Sixth distinguished itself in M41 on the front-lines of the many campaigns and battles attempting to hold off the encroaching Darktide from the Moebian Fringe. These Fringe Wars are often waged on Feral Worlds and Death Worlds across the Moebian Fringe where horrible enemies are fought with little external support.[1]

For years, the Moebian Sixth served the Imperium loyally and became the most famous and celebrated Moebian regiment.[1] They Moebian 6th were fighting the toughest campaigns on the Fringe. Exclusively being deployed to defend their homeworld's Sector, contrary to standard Astra Militarum doctrines. The 6th developed a nostalgia for their homeworld that they would resupply on between campaigns.[9]

The 6th preferred an in-your-face style of fighting. Close-quarters death dealers like combat shotguns were ideal.[5k] The popularity of standard Astra Militarum chainswords of officers would wane in favour of powered, blunt-force mauls instead.[5j] The 6th would eventually gain a penchant for the blunt melee weapons picked up from their enemies on the Fringe.[5h] Ranking officers traditionally carried combat swords, but the rise of inter-company duelling rings would make them a much more common sight in recent campaigns.[5i] The 6th were primarily known for their heavy assault infantry.text-middle[Help]

Over time, however, the Moebian Sixth was pushed too far for too long. Exposed to the horrors of the Galaxy, the Imperium's callous hypocrisy, and the Warp, a sharp contrast to the Imperial propaganda at home, eventually resulted in the unit's corruption.[1] At first, this remained unknown to Imperial authorities.[3a] But when a contagion and Chaos cult uprising erupted in Hive Tertium on Atoma Prime, instigated by the Chaos Cult known as Admonition,[1][3a] the Moebian Sixth was redirected from frontline deployment in the Fringe War to instead assist in combating the Nurgle corruption and uprising of Tertium.[3a][3b][4] However, once the Moebian Sixth landed and became well entrenched in Hive Tertium, they revealed themselves as traitors and began fighting alongside the cultists against the people they had sworn to protect.[2]

History

Nox Wars

During the Nox Wars, the 6th took part in the Scouring of Nox Secundus. During this military action, 8 Moebian battle groups endured a week of intense enemy shelling. Of those that survived, the Moebian 6th, 9th and 12th would swear by Agripinaa flak helmets, as both efficacious armour and lucky charms.[5f]

Nox Alpha Campaign

Five thousand of us gone in three hours. This isn't war. It's slaughter.

— Moebian 6th Lasman[5b]

Moebians knows Nox Alpha as a benighted world that not even Saint Messelina would go to conquer during her crusades reconquering and liberating world across the Moebian Domain. Moebian 6th troopers who heard this would be their next deployment were disheartened that they would have to fight on this Emperor forsaken world.[5b]

In preparation for the Nox Alpha Campaign, Colonel Gortun would commission thousands of infantry lasguns in Nox Defiant Camo, the dark colours were intended to help the troopers blend into the darkness on the world.[5d] A grand parade in the Throneside District of Tertium would be held for these heroes of Atoma as their regiment embarked on their departure crafts.[5e] Troopers would remember this parade fondly as they traveled to their destination.[5b] 50,000 men and women of the Moebian 6th were sent to Nox Alpha.[5m]

Battle for Tertium

Traitor Moebian 6th long range squad[1]

The Moebian 6th wish to free their home, Tertium, from the shackles of the Imperium by spreading the dark truth they learned battling in the Moebian Fringe.[5m]

The Moebian 6th and Cult of Admonition are working together to take control of Hive Tertium. These heretic forces have unknown connections in the upper-levels of the Hive assisting the traitors through various means. Their primary goals appear to be taking control of the Leman Russ Battle Tank manufactorums for their own use, including the primary Metalfab 36, and spreading Nurglish blights across the Hive. Wherever the two groups of heretics go, the daemonic growths of Nurgle follow, corrupting machinery and growing into the foundations of the hive.text-middle[Help]

To further bolster their combat capabilities, the stimm manufacturing and distribution center of the hive, has been put to work concocting stimms infused with the blight, distilling further benefits from Nurgle's blessings. These stimms also further spread pathogens to those yet to be infected by other means. The Moebian 21st regiment would unknowingly use blighted medicae stimms resulting in a significant number of these loyalist forces turning into newly infected poxwalkers, known as groaners.text-middle[Help]
