Ophidian Crusade
The Ophidian Crusade[1a], also known as the Ophidian Campaign and Purge Campaign, was a successful Imperial Crusade, that was launched to retake control of the Ophidian Subsector from the forces of Chaos. It was led by Battlefleet Scarus, and lasted from 240.M41 to 338.M41 - a considerable achievement for the Imperium, in such a timescale.[1b]
The initial launch of the Ophidian Campaign in 240.M41 was delayed by the Helican Schism, a mass uprising in the Helican Subsector. The uprising forced the Lord Militant Honorius to redirect his gathered forces to pacify the uprising instead of embarking towards the Ophidian Subsector.[2a]
The last action of the campaign took place at Dolsene. The crusade ended in Imperial success and the Ophidian Subsector was declared cleansed.[2a] During the final engagement, Imperial forces captured thirty-three level alpha or above heretic psykers.[2b] Now a Warmaster, Honorius was given the title of Feudal Protector by the Imperial Lord Commander Helican Jeromya Faurlitz IV for his achievements during the campaign.[2a]
