Ordis K'vane[1c]

Ordis K'vane is a Taurans Deathwatch member of the Watch Fortress Keep Extremis and is part of Kill Team Mordelai.[1b]

History

He is a bellicose veteran, who has risen to become one of Keep Extremis' heroes. He was present when the Great Rift's creation placed the Watch Fortress within the Imperium Nihilus and it became repeatedly attacked by Traitors. Though Castivar and his Deathwatch Battle Brothers successfully drove off all of the attacks, they suffered substantial casualties in doing so. However when Keep Extremis later received distress calls from Vigilus, during the War of Beasts,[1b] Watch Captain Tannister was sent to aid the Imperial world,[1d] with a cobbled-together Watch Company aboard the Strike Cruiser Remorseless. It was in the process of forming the Company, that Sergeant Titus Mordelai's Kill Team Mordelai was formed from the survivors of the most badly mauled Kill Teams. Amongst its members was K'vane's close comrade Raelyn Castivar, of the Blood Angels Chapter, and they both fought well with each other. While Castivar would charge into his foes, K'vane followed in the Blood Angel's wake and gunned down anyone who threatened his flanks or rear. However the two would form a quick bond with the others members of Kill Team Mordelai as well, due to all of them losing comrades during the defense of Keep Extremis and now having a desire to claim vengeance.[1b]

By the time they reached Vigilus, Kill Team Mordelai was ready to fight together.[1b] However as soon as the Strike Cruiser arrived there, the Remorseless received distress calls from across the Vigilus System. Captain Tannister reacted to this new development by splitting his Watch Company into its individual Kill-Teams and sending them to answer each distress call. Kill Team Mordelai would not fight on Vigilus and was instead dispatched to aid the settlement of Vain Hope on Falsehood. They deployed on the Death World via the Corvus Blackstar Alien's Bane and sought to set up ambush points to attack the Drukhari that were raiding the settlement. This would be ruined, however, after the Kill Team was set upon by a giant creature known as a Carnivosaur. Though they were victorious, the Kill Team's battle drew a group of Drukhari to their location, which quickly fell upon them.[1c] In their ensuing attack, the Xenos struck K'vane and this sent the Kill Team into a rage. None more so than Castivar, as the sight of his comrade being wounded led him to charge into the Drukhari. This led him to clash with the Drukhari's Hekatrix leader and while the Blood Angel managed to kill the Xenos, it was not before Castivar was poisoned with a deadly nerve-toxin.[1a]

Despite this, the Drukhari were all killed - except for one taken prisoner by Sergeant Mordelai. The Sergeant then extracted the location of one of the Xenos' encampments from the captured Drukhari, and the Kill-Team moved to attack and destroy it. However just as they were about to, Castivar found himself unable to fight due to the effects of the Hekatrix's nerve-toxin. The rest of Kill Team Mordelai continued with the attack, though, and during the process of doing so, K'vane was heavily wounded after being struck repeatedly by several of the Xenos. He survived his wounds, but needed to be carried on the backs of his comrades. Though the Tauran was able to continue firing, the Drukhari regrouped from the Kill Team's attack and threaten to overwhelm them. Before that could occur, Sergeant Mordelai called in the Alien's Bane and the Corvus Blackstar's firepower killed them all.[1d]
