Overview
These Ogryns have been mutated by those devoted to Nurgle, becoming monstrous mutant masses of diseased and bloated flesh. The hardy and strong Ogryn had proven to be an ideal breeding ground for nightmarish plagues that have turned them into these twisted hulking creatures. The mutations and other blighted gifts inflicted upon them makes them incredibly hardy and almost impossible to kill. The slightest touch from one of these virulent monsters could bring about an exceptionally horrible death.[2]
Their first known creation of Plague Ogryn occurred on Vraks at the hands of the Traitor Chaos Space Marines warband known as The Tainted. These devoted disciples of Nurgle used their sorcerous arts to transform the Ogryn labour-force aligned with the rebel forces into these hulking blighted beasts.[2]
Since that time, the savants of the Ordo Malleus have come to believe that the secrets of creating Plague Ogryns have been further refined by the Tainted from within their home in the Eye of Terror. As a result, they have traded these festering creatures amongst other devotees of Nurgle in return for new subjects with which they can continue to practice their craft.[2]
In M42, the Nurgle Chaos Cult known as Admonition on Atoma Prime has created many Plague Ogryn during their uprising in Hive Tertium.[4]
