"My sons, my brothers. There is something I have been keeping from you. Do not judge me harshly for it. The time of revelation is at hand."

- Lord Commander Guilliman, prior to the Primaris Revelation[2a]

The Primaris Revelation[1][3][4] was the first official revealing of the Primaris Space Marines to the Imperium, by their creator Archmagos Dominus Belisarius Cawl.[2b]

History

The event was held in the Sol System, aboard Cawl's Ark Mechanicus Zar-Quaesitor, as the Indomitus Crusade was being being prepared to launch. Numerous high-ranking Imperial officials attended the Primaris Revelation, including eight of the High Lords of Terra. After they had all arrived aboard the Zar-Quaesitor, the gathered Imperials were taken to meet with Cawl and they passed pristine Space Marine weapons and vehicles, whose designs had never been seen before. Among the creations were also numerous rows of power armour and Captain Messinius noted to himself that there were not enough Space Marines in the galaxy to wear them all. As they neared their destination, Lord Commander Guilliman remarked that there was something he had been keeping from the gathered Imperials and he hoped they would not judge him to harshly for doing so.[2a] They were then taken to a chamber that held a large square hold, where below them one hundred giant grey-armoured Space Marines stood. Cawl greeted them upon their arrival and revealed that the weapons and devices they had seen earlier were his creations, as were the grey Space Marines below them.[2b]

"These warriors you see here before you are the crowning achievement of my project. You bear witness to a new founding! A new kind of warrior, the Primaris Space Marine."

- Archmagos Dominus Belisarius Cawl, during the Primaris Revelation[2b]

He called them Primaris Space Marines and Cawl admitted he had begun working on their creation ten thousand years earlier, at the direct request of Lord Commander Guilliman. In order to show how improved they were over the Firstborn Space Marines, the Archmagos Dominus ordered the Primaris to fight hordes of advance Combat Servitors, that were of his own design. Though they were only armed with combat knives, the Primaris were easily victorious and only six of their number were killed, with another several left injured. After the combat was over, Cawl then unveiled that he had twenty four thousand Primaris, descended from each of the Loyalist Primarchs, aboard the Zar-Quaesitor for Guilliman to use for the Indomitus Crusade. However, in truth, the Dominus had created several Legions worth of Primaris and now the Space Marines were at numbers not seen since the Great Crusade. Guilliman was pleased with all that Cawl had shown him and declared to the gathered Imperials that the Primaris would allow him to restore order to the besieged Imperium and defeat its enemies.[2b] Afterwards, the Ultima Founding began and the unveiled Primaris were used to create new Space Marine Chapters.[3]

"For the Emperor! For Terra! For Unity! For Guilliman!"

"Terra has its armies. Our fleets gather. Let the enemies of the Imperium quail. The days of darkness are over. The reconquest of the galaxy can begin."

- Lord Commander Guilliman, at the conclusion of the Primaris Revelation[2b]

However, not all went to plan during the Primaris Revelation. As the Primaris' combat display took place, Captain Messinius was secretly drawn towards the Primaris Alpha Primus, who warned him to watch out for Cawl. Though the Archmagos Dominus sought to save the Imperium, Primus remarked that Cawl overplayed his genius and walked a crooked path to reach his goals. However, Primus stated his creator was not infallible and that Messinius should not believe everything Cawl says. Primus also stated that Guilliman used the Primaris' combat display to show the gathered Imperials the might he now has at his disposal. However, he then warned the Captain to be wary of the faith that the Imperium had bestowed upon the Lord Commander and that Guilliman still had many enemies.[2b]

News of the Primaris Revelation sent a great disquiet over Terra, to the point that many did not believe the Primaris were real. To them these new Space Marines were likely heavily flawed and would soon die out, while others knew the truth and wondered what the future now held. Even the Adeptus Custodes were shaken by the Revelation, as despite priding themselves on knowing every Imperial factions' clandestine operations, they were completely surprised by the Primaris' existence.[1] Also because the Black Templars were openly fanatical of the Emperor, Guilliman was unsure how the Chapter would react to news of the Primaris Revelation. Because of this, the Lord Commander personally met with High Marshal Helbrecht, aboard the Eternal Crusader, to speak with him about the Primaris Space Marines.[4]
