Quarantined World
Quarantined Worlds (Quarantine Worlds)[10] are an Imperial classification of planet. These worlds are too dangerous to settle or explore, but still seen as too valuable to destroy or ignore completely. These planets are placed under strict quarantine the Administratum or Inquisition and sometimes are even blockaded to ensure that nothing may enter or leave its surface until the Imperium can properly utilize them.[1]
Resources on these worlds tend to be scarce and those trapped there must scrounge for whatever meager remnants that can be found. A world could be marked as quarantine for a number of reasons such as a pathogen, some form of warp contamination, or dangerous creature(s), however some remain verdant paradises. Some Quarantine Worlds are rumoured to be covered in psychic storms that burn away sanity, others are said to be stalked by ethereal remnants of long-dead races amongst once-grand temples, and few have simply experienced events so terrible that the Imperium deems that what transpired must remain secret forever.[10]
The inhabitants of these worlds might be utterly unaware of their world's quarantine status, having become little more than a myth. Others could be fully aware of their home's status and wear this imprisonment as a punishment to be woven throughout their society as a penance. Individuals on these worlds can attempt to seek redemption by addressing what has prompted their quarantine. This could be by slaying some beast, stomping out a blight, or destroying a source of warp-corruption.[10]
Those that seek to find a way off-world will have to beat the immeasurable odds stacked against them, both in order to depart and to retain their freedom afterward. Individuals that make it off-world will tend to be killed immediately if their world-of-origin is discovered. Some might be hunted by an Inquisitor to be interrogated about said world, before being killed, but this isn't always the case depending on the Inquisitor as well as the situation in question.[10]
