Slaughterbound
The Slaughterbound is the monstrously powerful leader of the World Eaters' possessed Eightbound warriors.[1]
Overview
Each Slaughterbound is an unparalleled champion of Khorne that has defeated a mighty Bloodthirster and bound it inside their soul. Acting as the host for even a single Daemon is a taxing endeavor, and Daemons of Khorne in particular are known to be particularly difficult and temperamental for those possessed by them. So it is that only the greatest World Eaters or other Khornate Chaos Space Marines have been able to achieve this feat, and the end result is a warrior of unstoppable ferocity and blazing beacon of unbound carnage. They are neither fully flesh or wholly daemonic, with their bodies molding itself into a new and lethal configurations of Lacerator blades and claws as the Greater Daemon within struggles to be free. Slaughterbound wage a constant metaphysical battle to contain the force within them, and in battle unleash this never-ending hatred and violence into devastating power. Thus can Slaughterbound destroy fortress gates with a single blow or cute a swathe through an entire army of foes.[4]
This power comes at a cost, as the never-ending struggle within their soul is extremely taxing on their minds. Their mutations are far more pronounced, and their very blood is said to be super-heated and explosive. To try and mitigate this, Slaughterbound wear complex arrays of blood infusers, coolant injectors, and alchemical salves built by Berzerker-Surgeons which are interfaced with their Power Armour. These devices and concotions help enable the Slaughterbound to maintain control over their body and the Daemon within.[4]
Upon the death of a Slaughterbound, the violent release of the Greater Daemon's essence has the tendence to result in violent combustion. Those caught in the vicinity are at risk of being consumed by boiling viscera, shards of heated bone, and searing shrapnel. It is the last spiteful act of vengeance before the Greater Daemon is cast howling back into the Warp.[4]
