SpaceMarinesPortal A Space Marine Command Council is usually formed when two or more Chapters of the Adeptus Astartes find themselves fighting side by side. In such circumstances, the leaders of each convene a council where they elect a leader to speak for their interests. The representative is a warrior that commands the greatest respect and admiration amongst the assembled Space Marine leaders who is entrusted the the ultimate command of the combined forces of the Astartes assembled. When forming even larger armies, a Command Council normally ratifies their orders of the Warmaster and act on them as they see fit. It has been unheard of for Astartes serving in a Warmaster's forces to pursue their own objectives. Occasionally, a Space Marine Command Council will decide not to raify a Warmaster's command and may even openly disobey them. As such, it takes a very special kind of leader to command the respect of the leaders of a Space Marine Command Council and thus it is the ultimate testament of a Warmaster's skill and authority if they were capable of such a feat.1-p298
