Sven Bloodhowl was a Wolf Lord of the Space Wolves, leading the Great Company known as the Firehowlers.[1][4]

History
Even for Space Wolves, Sven and the warriors of his Great Company are reckless, daring, and savage. They tattoo their bodies with runes and scenes depicting their own sagas; Sven himself has covered every square inch of his body with these tattoos, but, still lacking enough room, has taken to using the hides of his defeated enemies to continue his saga[1a].
Sven's symbol on the Grand Annulus is the Fire Breather, a famous volcano on Fenris located a hundred leagues north of the Fang. During his Company's regular feasts, he and his men practice increasingly dangerous feats of breathing and walking through fire, after which they gorge themselves on heavily spiced meat and guzzle flaming liquor[1a].
Sven's company specialized in close combat tactics, and legend says that he and his vanguard breathe fire into their enemies' ranks as they advance[1a].
Notable Actions
- 853.M41: The Daemonbane War. Bloodhowl's Great Company is battling hordes of Chaos Daemons at the molten core of the planet Yaogeddon, and are in danger of being overwhelmed, when the radical Inquisitor Lord Querrian manages to turn the hordes of Khorne and Slaanesh against each other, causing the horde to ignore the Wolves and tear itself apart. When the Ordo Malleus orders Querrian executed for his heretical actions, Bloodhowl makes war on the Inquisition itself, retreating only after Querrian has managed to escape[1b].
- 999.M41: During the Hunt for the Wulfen, Sven led his forces alongside Dark Angels against Daemons on Tranquilitus. Later during the Siege of the Fenris System, Sven led his berserker forces suffering the Curse of the Wulfen against the Bloodthirster Vor'hakk.[2]
- 999.M41: 13th Black Crusade. Sven Bloodhowl leads a boarding operation of the Blackstone Fortress Will of Eternity. He is ultimately able to disable its shields, allowing the Phalanx to destroy the Fortress at the cost of his own life.[3] He was thought missing for a time, but was eventually replaced by Hrothvyr Runescar.[5]
