Syra
The Syra are a renegade group within the Tau Empire.[1a]
Consisting of extremist Tau, the Syra believe that Humans in particular are unworthy of joining the Empire and seek to violently purge them.[1a] On Cao Quo, the group received unwitting Imperial support when a Callidus Assassin impersonating the Ethereal Aun'ui Yor'i began covertly aiding them. The Imperial plan, concocted by the Raptors Sergeant Artamax, was to use the Syra to instigate disharmony amongst the Gue'vesa and Tau client races and the Greater Good as a whole.[1b]
In the end, the Imperial assassin is killed along with Artamax by an Elemental Council force. The real Yor'i foils the conspiracy by ordering a Tau withdrawal from Cao Quo, granting it independence.[1c] The status of the Syra afterwards is unknown.
