Artamax

Are you aware my battle-brothers mock the idea of your Empire clawing its way to greatness? As if all we need do is muster a fraction of our strength and crush you. As if that were so simple a task. The Imperium's blessed war machine is a diseased giant, not easily stirred. Your Empire is a dynamo of conquest. Unchallenged, you will set your ambitions on the realm of Ultramar, or even the holy sanctuary of Segmentum Solar. Your significance is not in the threat you pose today. It is in the threat you pose in ten thousand years.

- Artamax[2d]

Artamax was a Sergeant of the Raptors' 3rd Company.[1][2c]

History

After Cao Quo fell to an invasion by the T'au Empire's Fifth Sphere of Expansion, Artamax infiltrated the former Imperial world and began a insurrection against the Xenos.[1] His campaign sought not to just rally Human rebels on Cao Quo against their Tau rulers, but to undermine the entire Tau'va by using a Callidus Assassin impersonating the Ethereal Yor'i to sponsor the renegade Syra group. Artamax saw the Greater Good as fragile and thought he could poison the entire Tau Empire with discontent with his actions on Cao Quo.[2a]

During the battles against the Elemental Council organised by the impersonator Yor'i to recover Aun'ui Kir'qath, an Ethereal who was investigating the truth of his conspiracy, Artamax willingly allows himself to be captured and put into stasis.[2b] Aboard the Tau floating forward operating base above Cao Quo, Artamax was then set free by Yor'i as the Imperials launched an attack on the facility.[2b] Recovering his Power Armour at a location provided by Yor'i, Artamax came into battle with the Elemental Council operatives Swordlight and Ke. Thanks to Ke being an Earth Caste engineer, she was able to jump on Artamax's armour interface and interfere with it, causing it to jam. This gave Swordlight the time needed to slash Artamax's throat.[2a]
