Tamino Degarlos Vermelk Helmawr
Tamino Degarlos Vermelk Helmawr[1] (born 971.M41) is the 14th recognized son of Gerontius Helmawr, the 137th Lord of Necromunda.[2d]
History
Unlike his siblings, Tamino never desired to succeed his father and become the Hive World's next ruler. He instead preferred to pursue more visceral activities, that allowed Tamino to get his hands dirty. In his mind, what was the point of House Helmawr's wealth and the training he underwent as one of Lord Helmawr's recognized children, if he could not do so? Despite this, Tamino's sister Haera Helmawr tried to kill him on multiple occasions, in her quest to succeed their Father. While these attempts failed and led to Tamino not liking his sister, he respected the ambition that Haera had.[1]
In M42, the Great Rift's Noctis Aeterna struck the Hive World and in the mayhem that followed, an Assassin's attack left Gerontius in a Stasis Casket. With their Father now unable to rule Necromunda, a power struggle broke out between Gerontius' heirs to replace him as its Imperial Commander.[2a] Lady Credo, though, used the opportunity to launch a world-wide rebellion to end House Helmawr's rule of the Hive World.[2b]
In the mayhem that followed, many of Gerontius' heirs were killed by various forces. However, his daughter Haera Helmawr became the Imperial House's de facto ruler[2d] after she asked her surviving siblings to attend a family meeting and then killed them all.[2c] Tamino and six other heirs were not there though, and they are now likely hiding to avoid their cruel sister's grasp.[2d] Afterwards though, Lady Credo freed her master Ozostium Aranthus, who was revealed to be the leader behind the rebellion and this led Haera to begin to lose her grip on Necromunda. Soon Ozostium's forces swept across the Hive World and a desperate Haera attempted to reach the Dust Wall, in order to gather its forces that watched over Hive Secundus to her side. During this time, Tamino had already made his way to Secundus and was exploring its ruins, while wearing a Malcadon Spyrer suit. As he did so, Tamino learned many of the secrets the Hive contained, including information that had been sealed away by his Father or was no longer available anywhere else on Necromunda.[1]
Haera meanwhile, failed to reach the Dust Wall, after her party was hunted down by Ash Waste Nomads commanded by the Spirit Speaker Asun'ghar. The pursuit finally ended in the lost underground hold of the Ironhead Squat Prospector clan Jardlan and only Haera is known to have escaped. However she was left badly wounded by Asun'ghar and collapsed after reaching the underground passage that led to the ruins of Hive Secundus. She was later found by Tamino, who briefly considered leaving his Sister to be killed by the things that hunted the tunnels there. In the end though, Tamino knew he was not like his siblings and chose to save Haera by injecting her with Stimms. Once healed, Haera told Tamino that she needed to reach the Dust Wall in order to prevent Ozostium Aranthus from overthrowing House Helmawr's rule of Necromunda. Tamino informed her, however, that the Dust Wall had been lost to Ozostium's forces but that his exploration of Hive Secundus' ruins had allowed him to learn much about House Aranthus. He also found something that would kill the god-like Ozostium and in doing so, finally bring the rebellion to an end. Tamino then led Haera into Hive Secundus to show her the power he had discovered. At that time, it is believed the two were the only recognized children of Lord Gerontius Helmawr, that were still alive.[1]
