Cawl's Servitor
In M30, the young Belisarius Cawl stationed on Trisolian A4 had a pet servitor after Tez-Lar. He named the servitor Tex-Lar as a sign of respect for those who master more than one field of study, and as a sign of his ambition to do the same.[1]
Cawl had built the servitor, Tez-Lar, himself from scavenged parts. While stationed on Gamma-Gamma-Gamma he filched bionics for Tez-Lar from the local recyc heaps. In order to lay claim to the corpse of the indigent who provided Tez-Lar's organic component, Cawl should have filled in rather a lot of forms, which he did not.[1]
Some would call was Cawl did stealing, but he knew better. He believed the Mechanicum, as it were at the time, operated upon the principle of discovery - or finders keepers, to put it crudely. Cawl put his mean-of-acquisition down to an individual expression of the principle that guided all forge world societies, and refused to acknowledge said acquisitions as theft.[1]
Trivia
- This is likely a reference to Nikola Tesla, who was a Serbian-American engineer, futurist, and inventor. He is known for his contributions to the design of the modern alternating current (AC) electricity supply system.
