Tharador Yheng

Tharador Yheng was the leader of the Cult of the Blade Unsheathed who served the Word Bearers during the Battle of Gathalamor.[1a] Since then she has become a powerful chaos sorceress[3a] and the current master of the Hand of Abaddon.[3f]

History

A mortal woman born on Gathalamor, Yheng was charged with Dark Apostle Kar-Gatharr with aquiring the artifact known as the Ring of Bucharis in order to power a Chaos superweapon.[1a] Yheng's cultists were successful in acquiring the ring, and thereafter Kar-Gatharr gave her over to the control of Black Legion Sorcerer Tenebrus in order to steal the artifact back from him should he attempt to flee. Sure enough at the end of the battle Tenebrus attempted to leave Gathalamor with the ring, but after the death of Kar-Gatharr chose to leave with the Sorcerer-Lord[1b].

Sometime later, Yhend was acting as Tenebrus' acolyte and aided him in his schemes with the Word Bearers and the summoning of Kairos Fateweaver in order to track down the Star Child.[2] She was seen with the rest of the Hand of Abaddon aboard a Blackstone Fortress as they gathered together the eight shards of the Anathame.[3b]

Yheng quickly was swept up in the scheming of rival members of the Hand, such as the Iron Magus who desired the Anathame for herself. Evading death and capture by the Magus' mechanical constructs aboard the Blackstone Fortress, Yheng with the aid of Augury is able to increase her psychic abilities and experience a vision of the Dark Gods thanks to the empowering properties of the Fortress' Noctilith.[3c] However Yheng is eventually captured by the Magus and brought to the Blackstone Fortress' energy core, but before she can be killed by the Dark Mechanicum Tech-Priest the Chaos station is attacked by Imperial forces under the Rogue Trader Katla Helvintr. The Blackstone Fortress opens fire at the incoming Imperials, distracting the Iron Magus enough for Yheng to kill her.[3d]

Escaping, Yheng is then confronted by Tenebrus and the two began a heated exchange. Tenebrus demands Yheng come with him but the Fortress itself turns on the Sorcerer, impaling him with spikes that protrude from the wall.[3d] During the subsequent Battle of the Stygius Gilt Yheng and Augury destroy the Blackstone Fortress' core to deny it to Imperial forces.[3d] Later, the two are able to acquire the reforged Anathame, now dubbed the Culler, by sacrificing the Red Corsair Graeyl Herek. Yheng is declared by Augury to be the new master of the Hand of Abaddon and offered apotheosis.[3f]
