White Seer
The White Seers are Eldar Seers which work within the Black Library of Chaos[1] which dedicate their lives to thwarting Slaanesh and the other Chaos Powers[4] – in this persuit they learn "Rituals of Defiance" and turn their Psychic efforts towards the suppression and containment of Chaos.[4]
Overview
White Seers train within the Black Library and work beside the Black Library Guardians of the Black Library of Chaos as curators of the library. They coordinate with the Guardians of Biel-Tanigh and the Harlequins,[4] they are called upon when sources of corruption are so powerful that even the latter's devotion to The Laughing God will not protect them.[1] In this effort, White Seers are summoned upon by the Asuryani of the Craftworlds to contain powerful artefacts of Chaos[4] at the request of their Farseers.[1]
As their name implies, White Seers dress all in plain white and shave their heads of all hair,[1] some even go so far as to adorn themselves with a featureless mask in addition to their robes.[2b] White Seers command archaic and almost abstractly artistic engines of destruction which shoot beams of coruscating power capable of disintegrating Daemons,[5] and weapons of arcane destruction which can instantly unmake daemon & mortal flesh alike.[3a] They have special mastery of Web-Runners, Eldar craft whose crystaline Ghost Engine may be operated by White Seers to burrow through the Warp itself, although they are also taught by Harlequins how to navigate the Webway.[4] They also make use of tools of containment, including rune-covered Null-coffins which negate the influence of Chaos artefacts locked within.[4] Spirit Stones glow white in proximity to a White Seer who have no presence in Seers Skeins of Fate, and are found offputing by their psychic kin for this absence.[1] Lesser Daemons flee in their presence.[4]
White Seer Psychic Powers
White Seers retain the Psychic powers natural to the Aeldari, like telepathy, but are specially trained to contain and deny chaos. Unlike other Eldar Seers White Seers do not attempt to wield the power of the Warp nor discern from it prophecy.[4]
- Rituals of Defiance which allow them to gaze upon the Warp directly without issue and protect themselves and others from the predation of Slaanesh, this also allows them to operate Web-Runners.[4]
- Immunity to the charms and wiles of Chaos, and the ability to silence or obscure objects of Chaos to others.[1]
- Psychic-invisibility to Farseers Skeins of Fate.[1]
- Chants to open the Endless Stair, eyes blazing gold as they do so.[3]
