Xedro Farren
Xedro Farren is a Lieutenant in the Dark Angels 3rd Company.[1a]
History
Leading a squad of newly inducted Primaris Space Marines, Farren was assigned to destroy Tau forces on the Ocean World of Saltire Vex. During the battle against Tau Battlesuits, Farren was subjected too psychic attack by Humans on an ocean rig and observed a strange black aircraft leaving the planet.[1a] An investigation led by the Chaplain Zaeroph and Captain Gabrael revealed that the Humans on Saltire Vex were working with the Tau willingly as they feel the Imperium abandoned them. They also learn that the Tau are abducting people with psychic potential, though they are likely not the source of the black aircraft. Intrigued, the Dark Angels condemned Jensa as a Heretic, but decided to use the captured Human Psyker Jensa Deel as bait to lure the craft back.[1a]
However before the plan could be put into action, Farren secretly met with Jensa and learned of her peoples plight. He then let her escape while giving her a scroll to present to the Astropathic Relay Station of Qaru Non, hoping to secure help. In the ensuing escape, Farren's wounds from his earlier battle reopened, and he was forced to activate his Belisarian Furnace to make it to his Repulsor carrier.[1b] Upon waking back up in the care of Apothecaries on the Battle Barge Executioner's Blade, Farren learned that his Primaris brothers have been subjected to similar strange psychic experiences and that the Dark Angels have promptly abandoned the Saltire Vex warzone in search for a new foe, later revealed to be the Fallen Angel Gohorael, who is behind the mysterious black aircraft. Farren and the rest of his Primaris brethren were by this point still ignorant of the nature of the Fallen.[1c][1d]
The Dark Angels then made for the Angels of Absolution homeworld of Allhallow, which was under attack by Gohorael, who used his psychic abilities to transform the guards of their Fortress-Monastery into Mutant slaves.[1d] The Dark Angels, led by a Deathwing contingent, arrived to find Tau forces under Commander Surestrike and Shas'O Monat Kais were also present on Allhallow and are purging the corrupted Humans. The Tau proposed a temporary alliance in order to confront their mutual enemy, and the Dark Angels reluctantly agreed in order to save Allhallow.[1e]
Farren and his squad then descended into the lowest levels of the Angels of Absolutions Fortress-Monastery of Soul's Well, and as they fought through hordes of Mutants and Daemons learned that the target they were seeking was a fellow Space Marine. Farren, together with Sergeant Moricani, were able to track down Ghorael and throw him from the battlements.[1f] After the battle, the Primaris Dark Angels learned that they are to be mind-warped to ostensibly erase their contact with the Tau, but in truth this is to hide the existence of the Fallen. They also learn that as part of the pact with the Tau, the Dark Angels are going to return to Saltire Vex to purge its human population in order to contain the psychic plague. Shaken to the core, Farren and the other Primaris veterans escape from the Apothecarian before they could be mind-wiped.[1g]
The Primaris Marines flee in a Boarding Torpedo and learned that the Dark Angels are attacking a Kroot Warsphere containing human refugees from Saltire Vex. Farren and his squad boarded the vessel and reunite with Jensa, who pleads with him to let her people go. Farren was then met by Master Garbael and Chaplain Zaeroph, who were unimpressed with his ruthlessness. They then revealed that the Primaris Marines would nonetheless be incorporated into the outer layer of the Inner Circle and will serve as spies to hunt the Fallen within the Ultima Founding and Adeptus Mechanicus for the secret brotherhood.[1h]
