The Predator is a tank employed by the Space Marines. It is a more heavily armed and armoured version of the Space Marine Rhino personnel carrier.

Like the Rhino, the Predator is an STC vehicle. It is constructed on Adeptus Mechanicus forge worlds for use by Space Marines and other Imperial forces. The Predator has three main weapon systems: a turret-mounted heavy weapon and two sponson weapons.

There are two major patterns of Predator, each differing essentially in their specific weaponry. Besides the two common patterns, the Blood Angels and their successor chapters employ the assault oriented Baal Predator.

Predator Destructor

Predator Destructor

The Predator Destructor is one of two major patterns of the Predator, armed with a turreted autocannon and either two heavy bolter or lascannon sponsons. In battle these tanks usually assume the task of destroying infantry or light vehicles. Those armed with the anti-armour lascannon are far more effectively employed as dedicated tank hunters. The Chaos Space Marines also make use of autocannon-armed Predator tanks.

Predator Annihilator

The Predator Annihilator is the second of the two major patterns. Its primary turret-mounted weapon are twin-linked lascannons. Its side sponson weapons are either heavy bolters or lascannons, depending on the choice of anti-vehicle or anti-infantry configuration.

Baal Predator

The Ball predator is a predator variant used exclusively by the Blood Angels chapter, it is named after their home world. It foregoes anti-vehicle capacity by replacing the turret weapon with a twinlinked assault cannon. Sponson weapons are replaced by sponson mounted flamestorm cannons making the tank an ideal anti infantry and antri horde tank.

Upgrades

Both patterns can be equipped with a pintle-mounted storm bolter as well as with a Dozer Blade, Extra Armour, Hunter-killer Missile, Power of the Machine Spirit, Searchlight and Smoke Launchers.
