Durandal Dreadnought
From Warhammer 40k - Lexicanum
Durandal Dreadnought[2]
The Durandal Dreadnought is a melee-focused Dreadnought pattern, that is used by the Black Templars Chapter.[1]
Description
Those who use Durandal Dreadnoughts wage into close combat and attack with their two close combat weapons. One of these weapons is equipped with a built in Storm Bolter, while the other contains a Heavy Flamer or Meltagun. The close combat weapons are also used to strike together as a single blow against vehicles, in order for the Durandal to better penetrate the enemy's armour. The Dreadnought can be equipped with reinforced armour, a Searchlight and a Smoke Launcher as well.[1]

Trivia
- The Durandal Dreadnought and Philippus were created by the Games Workshop employee Christian Valentin. They were featured on an older French version of the company's website.[1]
- Valentin based the Durandal Dreadnought off of a picture of a Dreadnought in the French version of Codex: Black Templars (4th Edition), which had two close combat weapons.[1] This picture can be found on page 17, in both the English and French version of the codex.[2]
